Al Karma, which translates as “The Vine”, is a local Syrian humanitarian organization that provides free meals to families throughout Damascus and the surrounding area. Although Faith-based, they openly support needy and disadvantaged families from all ethnic and religious backgrounds. They are a shining example of the true meaning of “Humanitarian”, caring for all people, no matter their race or creed.

Ahmed, the young man featured in this video, is one of 86,000 Syrians who have lost a limb due to the 15-year war and the remaining Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) which can be found throughout Syria. The challenges that Ahmed and his family face can be found in hundreds of Syrian communities and the threat of limb loss will be resident in Syria for decades to come.
